Welcome to Kids Need Nature

Kids need nature. Fortunately, nature has terrible Wi-Fi.

Kids are growing up in a world that increasingly pulls them indoors, onto screens, and away from the places where humans have spent most of our history: outside.

I built Kids Need Nature around a simple idea: connecting children with the natural world should be easier.

This site is a growing collection of research, resources, activities, horticulture, and tools for finding nature nearby. It's also a place for me to explore a question I find endlessly interesting:

What happens when we make nature a normal part of childhood again?

Gardens count. Parks count. Mud counts. Bugs definitely count.

You don't need a national park. Sometimes you just need to open the door.
