About this review and inclusion criteria

Hospitals were reviewed using a standardized search protocol for horticultural therapy, therapeutic horticulture, therapeutic and healing gardens, sensory gardens, community and food gardens, gardening programs, and related nature-based clinical programming. A hospital was counted only when qualifying evidence could be documented. For hospitals classified without a qualifying program, this means no qualifying evidence was identified through the review; it does not establish that no such activity exists.
